OECM has come a long way since the initial Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions I participated in when they first launched. The thought was to have an online marketplace that end-user educational institutions would be able to interface their financial/procurement systems with. With that proving to be a monumental (and near impossible) task, OECM quickly pivoted and never looked back. They showed great resilience in the face of significant skepticism from school boards, colleges, and universities. They turned the other cheek when under attack, listened to complaints and criticism with a genuine interest and intention to improve and provide a valuable resource for the sector, and all the while focused on the “C” in OECM, collaboration. While it took time to win over the masses, look at OECM now.
